Abstract

A new approach to weed control in orchards.

Abstract

This paper was presented at the 10th Conference of the Weed Science Society of Israel, held on 20-21 Dec., 1987 at Rehovot, Israel. In citrus orchards infested with herbicide-resistant weeds, cultivating once, followed by chemical control of the seedlings was recommended for the control of several species including Amaranthus, Panicum maximum, Aster subulatus, Bidens pilosa and Parietaria diffusa. Mechanical cultivation every 3-4 weeks throughout the year is recommended against perennial vegetation such as Convolvulus arvensis, Sorghum halepense, Rubus sanguineus, Asparagus, Imperata cylindrica, Cynodon dactylon and Desmostachya bipinnata.
