Abstract

The desert locust migrating to the Antilles.

Abstract

An immigration by Schistocerca gregaria into the Caribbean Region, including several countries on continental South America, in October-November 1988 is reported. The route by which this migration may have taken place is discussed, and it is reported that malathion and lambda-cyhalothrin were applied to the ground in sprays in several countries in the Antilles with the aim of preventing S. gregaria from becoming established there and infesting crops.
