Evaluation of the insect growth regulator pyriproxyfen (Tiger) as a control agent for the California red scale and the cottony-cushion scale.
Pyriproxyfen was evaluated as a control agent for the diaspidid Aonidiella aurantii and the margarodid Icerya purchasi in the field in Israel. Application of 100 p.p.m. resulted in good control of both pests and treated trees remained uninfested for 2 years. A rate of 50 p.p.m. alone or in combination with 0.5% mineral oil gave good control for one season. Treatments had no adverse effects on the parasitoids of A. aurantii.
