Abstract

The major weeds of paddy fields at sites in 16 counties of Fujian Province, China were Echinochloa crus-galli, Monochoria vaginalis, Rotala indica, Marsilea quadrifolia, Murdannia triquetra, Scirpus juncoides, Sagittaria pygmaea and Cyperus difformis. Relationships between the occurrence and distribution of the weeds and location, soil type, cropping system, soil management and rice growth were established. The agronomic importance and control of weeds of paddy at various locations and on various soil types are examined.
