Abstract

Scaphoideus titanus Ball (= Sc. littoralis Ball), a new pest of grapevine in Yugoslavia.

Abstract

In 1983, the cicadellid Scaphoideus titanus was recorded as new to the fauna of Yugoslavia, where it was found attacking grapevine in south-western Slovenia. Observations up to 1986 showed that it was widespread in the vineyards of this region; outbreaks were recorded at 2 localities in 1985. The life cycle of the pest corresponded to that in other regions of south-western Europe. It is known to transmit grapevine flavescence doree virus, and control measures are only necessary when this disease is widespread in a vineyard.
