Detailed coverage of invasive species threatening livelihoods and the environment worldwide

Abstract

Araucariaceae in Puerto Rico.

Abstract

Descriptions are given of 7 species of Araucariaceae introduced into Puerto Rico in the last 50 yr, surveying the results of known test plantings or reporting the performance of isolated trees where plantations have not been established. Plantation data are reported for Agathis robusta (which could probably become an important timber producer in Puerto Rico), Araucaria cunninghamii, Araucaria heterophylla (the most common species), Araucaria husteinii and Araucaria angustifolia. The other two species observed were Agathis australis and Araucaria bidwillii.
