Abstract

Contagious agalactia in Portugal.

Abstract

Contagious agalactia of sheep and goats occurs throughout Portugal. In sheep, only Mycoplasma agalactiae has been demonstrated. In goats M. agalactiae is the chief agent, followed by M. mycoides subsp. mycoides ; one case yielded M. arginini. Other bacterial agents of ovine and caprine mastitis in Portugal are listed.
