Cytological relationship between Echinochloa obtusiflora Stapf and the Kenyan diploid strain of E. pyramidalis (Lamk.) Hitchc. et Chase.
The F1 hybrid was a cormous perennial which possessed short cuspidated spikelets and glumes resembling those of E. pyramidalis. The F1 hybrid consistently formed 9 bivalents at metaphase I, indicating that the 2 species carry the same genome.
