Use of the ELISA method to identify Erwinia amylovora by means of its metabolites.
The supernatant liquid obtained after centrifuging culture media seeded with 91 strs. of E. amylovora was used as an antigen in ELISA. After 41/2 h of reaction, the corrected optical density was on av. 1.11, while that of strs. of other spp. was generally < 0.13. E. amylovora could be detected even when associated with E. herbicola, Pseudomonas fluorescens or P. syringae in the same culture medium.
