Abstract

Efficacy of some insecticides against thrips, Thrips flavus Schrank, a pest of fennel in the Punjab.

Abstract

The efficacy of chlorpyrifos, dichlorvos, dimethoate, endosulfan, fenthion, methyl-demeton [demeton-S-methyl] and monocrotophos (all at 0.05%) against Thrips flavus on fennel was evaluated in field studies in Punjab, India. All 7 insecticides reduced the population of T. flavus significantly compared with the control. Demeton-S-methyl was the most effective of the insecticides 3 and 7 days after treatment.
