Abstract

Population abundance of thrips, Thrips flavus Schr. on soya crop.

Abstract

The population abundance of Thrips flavus on soya [Anethum graveolens] was studied in Punjab, India, in February-April 1982. The population was greatest in the first 2 weeks of April reaching a peak of 961-1763 thrips/5 umbels on 14 April. After the peak there was a sudden drop in the population to 14-40 thrips/5 umbels by 26 April. It is suggested that the pest can be controlled effectively by spraying at the end of March.
