Toxicity of Helenium quadridentatum in calves and male white mice. First report from Cuba.

Abstract

H. quadridentatum was shown to be acutely toxic in three 45-day-old calves fed 3 kg of the green plant. The LD50 of the green plant for male white mice was 16.5 g/kg. Sesquiterpene lactones were extracted from the plant.
