The weed carriers of bacterial leaf blight of rice.
Inoculation on to rice was used to identify and to assess the importance of various weed species which act as carriers of bacterial leaf blight of rice [Xanthomonas campestris pv. oryzae]. Among the species which gave the most infection were Paspalum distichum, Cynodon dactylon, Leersia japonica and Zizania caduciflora. The amount of infection varied with plant part used as source of the disease organism with high levels from roots and stems of Z. caduciflora.
