Agrotypology of segetal plants of the right-bank forest steppe.

Abstract

Crop-weed associations occurring on a bank of the Dniepr in the Ukraine were studied taking account of soil type and relative importance of individual weed species. 26 agrotypes on 6 soil types were distinguished; 8 agrotypes were associated with crops of wheat and 4 with barley. Other crops studied included rye, oats, Fagopyrum esculentum, Panicum miliaceum, peas, maize, sugarbeet, potatoes and sunflowers. Dominant weeds in different agrotypic associations were Apera spica-venti, Papaver rhoeas, Centaurea cyanus, Descurainia sophia, Matricaria perforata, Chenopodium suecicum, Setaria pumila, Echinochloa crus-galli, Cirsium setosum and Amaranthus retroflexus.
