Abstract

Chemical control in grapevine rootstock nurseries.

Abstract

Heavily weed-infested grapevine rootstock nurseries in Odessa region were treated with simazine, atrazine, Caragard [terbumeton + terbuthylazine] and glyphosate. Application of 3.75-7.5 kg simazine, 12-16 kg atrazine or 12 kg Caragard/ha gave 76-94% control in the 1st year and 59-88% control in the 2nd year after treatment. Basagran [bentazone] or glyphosate were used to control resistant weeds including Setaria viridis, Xanthium strumarium, Cirsium incanum, Convolvulus arvensis, Elymus repens, Amaranthus spp. or Solanum nigrum. Recommendations on the opt. application dates and rates are given.
