Quarantine.

Abstract

A new method for disinsecting aircraft that involves spraying a light film of permethrin on all aircraft interior surfaces against plant pests and vectors of diseases of man and animals was approved in New Zealand in 1985. Heavy demand was placed on quarantine space during the year, with the importation of 3000 goats from Australia and 500 deer from England. There was a large number of interceptions of fruit fly larvae in imported fresh fruit and vegetables, and the discovery of Dacus xanthodes in watermelons from Tonga resulted in a prohibition order on the importation of watermelons from all Pacific Island countries.
