Abstract

Aphid vectors of potyvirus isolates infecting groundnuts around Tirupati.

Abstract

Isolates collected from groundnut fields in this region reacted serologically with peanut [groundnut] green mosaic and stripe viruses and were transmitted in a non-persistent manner by Aphis gossypii, Myzus persicae, A. craccivora and Toxoptera odinae. None of these infest groundnut crops but brief visits may be sufficient for them to act as natural vectors of these potyviruses.
