Spread of triazine resistant weeds in Hungary and possibilities of their control.
The possible role of triazine resistance in the spread of Xanthium spp. and Senecio vulgaris in Hungary was investigated using seeds collected from different sites. Soil treatment with acetochlor or metolachlor combined with urea derivatives and stand treatments with dicamba, pyridate and bromophenoxim + terbuthylazine provided effective treatment in stands of maize. Herbicides commonly used in plantations in Hungary e.g. Buvinol [atrazine + fenteracol] or Caragard [terbumeton + terbuthylazine] became inefficient in some regions where application of diuron and its combinations provided a good solution.
