Abstract

Occurrence in France of Pseudodactylogyrus anguilla (Yin et Sproston, 1948) Gussev, 1965 (Monogenea, Monopisthocotylea), a gill parasite of Anguilla anguilla in fresh water.

Abstract

P. anguillae, found on A. anguilla in several rivers and lagoons of the Mediterranean Coast of France is a new geographic record. It is noted that Pseudodactylogyrus is known to be pathogenic to farmed A. anguillae and A. japonica in Japan. Some aspects of the taxonomy of P. anguillae and the systematics of the genus are considered briefly.
