Abstract

Larvae of Xestia c-nigrum collected from grass fields in Japan at the beginning and end of the winter of 1982-83 were reared on an artificial diet in the laboratory, and those that died in the course of rearing were examined microscopically. In April-May 1983, the main mortality factors were nuclear polyhedrosis and granulosis viruses, the characteristics of which are given.
