Invasive Species Compendium

Detailed coverage of invasive species threatening livelihoods and the environment worldwide

Abstract

The status of certain Braconidae (Hymenoptera) cultured for biological control programmes, and description of a new species of Macrocentrus.

Abstract

Several braconids used in biological control programmes are described and illustrated, and the taxonomic status is clarified of the braconid Opius dissitus (reared from Liriomyza sativae (and its synonym L. minutiseta) on sorghum, tomato and Phaseolus), O. bruneipes, O. dimidiatus and Oenonogastra microrhopalae, which have been confused or misidentified. Macrocentrus prolificus sp. n. is described as new from the adults reared from Diatraea considerata and D. grandiosella on sugarcane in Mexico and from D. saccharalis on sugarcane in the laboratory in Texas.
