Invasive Species Compendium

Detailed coverage of invasive species threatening livelihoods and the environment worldwide

Abstract

Bordetella avium sp. nov., isolated from the respiratory tracts of turkeys and other birds.

Abstract

Bacteria associated with rhinotracheitis (coryza) in young turkeys have been called Bordetella [bronchiseptica]-like, or even Alcaligenes faecalis. The author showed that 28 strains from Europe, USA and Israel formed a distinct species which differed from other species of Bordetella and from Alcaligenes species and Achromobacter xylosoxidans.
