Abstract

Study on the larch bark beetle Ips subelongatus Motsch.

Abstract

The life cycle and biology of I. subelongatus are described from studies made in 1980-81 in the Heihe area of Heilongjiang Province, in which it is the main pest of larch plantations. The mature beetle overwinters in forest litter while pupae, larvae and some adults overwinter under larch bark. Spraying with lindane, phoxim or dichlorvos gave effective control; sprays of the same insecticides in diesel oil were also effective.
