Abstract

Observations of the infected portion of mulberry bacterial wilt by scanning electron microscopy.

Abstract

An examination of sections of fresh diseased roots and branches showed that the pathogenic bacteria (Pseudomonas solanacearum) were confined to the vessels, none being observed either in the sieve tubes or in other portions. Diseased plants showed symptoms of wilting and water loss which may be related to blocking or damage of the vessels by the bacteria.
