Detailed coverage of invasive species threatening livelihoods and the environment worldwide

Abstract

A preliminary study on aphid parasites in cotton fields (Hymenoptera: Aphidiidae).

Abstract

Observations were made in 1977-79 on the species of Aphidiidae found attacking aphids in cotton fields in Jiangsu Province, China. A total of 4 aphidiid species was found, the most important of which were Lysiphlebia japonica (Ashm.) and Trioxys indicus Subba Rao & Sharma, which were both collected from Aphis gossypii Glov. and A. craccivora Koch. Although the combined parasitisation rate of the 2 aphidiids was 13%, they did not give effective control because they in turn were attacked by hyperparasites, such as Aphidencyrtus sp.
