The ixodid tick burdens of eland (Taurotragus oryx), nyala (Tragelaphus angasi), giraffe (Giraffa camelopardalis), buffalo (Syncerus caffer) and gemsbok (Oryx gazella) in nature reserves in South Africa are described. The ticks recorded include Amblyomma hebraeum Koch, Boophilus decoloratus (Koch) and species of Rhipicephalus, Haemaphysalis, Hyalomma and Ixodes.
