Weeds of Brazil, terrestrial and aquatic, parasitic, poisonous and medicinal.
The object of this weed flora is to provide a basic reference book for students of weed science in Brazil and it is perhaps the 1st such work on a national scale. Each plant is described briefly with particular emphasis on the leaves and flowers. This is followed by a paragraph on its importance as a weed, dealing with such matters as growth habit, competitive ability, tendency to harbour pests or diseases and the type of crop most threatened. Brief reference is made to its medicinal properties and a map of the country shows clearly the areas of its distribution. The book is well produced with clearly printed text and attractive colour photographs on good quality glossy paper. It concludes with a short glossary of botanical terms occurring in the text.
