Common fuelwood crops. A handbook for their identification.
A book designed to aid the identification of the common trees and shrubs grown as fuelwood crops in plantations and forests, chiefly in tropical regions. The book is intended as a companion volume to Firewood crops: Shrub and tree species for energy production (1980) [see FA 42, 3329] and was written under a contract funded by the Agency for International Development. Botanical descriptions are given of 90 species, with illustrations, distribution is described (with maps for 61 species), and other uses are listed. References are cited after the text for each species. Keys to species are provided for the 7 genera with 3 or more species described (Acacia, Alnus, Casuarina, Eucalyptus, Pinus, Prosopis and Trema) and for the 10 species of mangroves discussed. Indexes are given of common and scientific names.
