Abstract

Morphology and in vitro cultivation of the bacterial symbiote of Dacus oleae.

Abstract

In scanning electron microscope studies in Switzerland on adults of the olive pest Dacus oleae (Gmel.) from Greece harbouring a bacterial symbiont, the oesophageal diverticulum was shown to be filled with a pure baterial population. In vitro cultivation showed that the symbiont was not Pseudomonas savastanoi, the causative agent of olive knot.
