Agricultural insect pests of the tropics and their control.
This is a second enlarged and revised edition of a book on arthropod pests of agricultural importance in the tropics first published in 1975 [see RAE/A 64, 2672], and intended primarily for students in tropical and near-tropical regions, as well as for professional workers concerned with the identification and control of arthropod pests in such regions. Some 70 additional pest species from tropical and sub-tropical Asia have been included, as well as some species from the tropical New World (to eliminate the bias towards Africa in the first edition), and some of the more temperate crop pests have been removed. The number of insect and mite pests treated in some detail now totals more than 310 species, and the number of crops and stored products dealt with has been increased to 104. The recommendations relating to chemical control have been revised in the light of recent developments, and additional examples of biological control are cited.
