Abstract
Mechanical control of blue pine defoliator Biston regalis Moore (Geometridae, Lepidoptera) in Murree and Azad Kashmir.
Abstract
Following a severe outbreak of defoliation of Pinus wallichiana in Aug. 1980, hibernating pupae were collected by hand from the soil and around tree bases in March-May 1981. The collection reduced the pupal population by more than 80%. Pupae were left in cages in the forest to allow emerging parasites to escape. A further collection of moths was made in May-June. The combined measures are likely to minimize defoliator outbreak in 1981.
