Abstract

Variation in monoterpene content among geographic sources of eastern white pine.

Abstract

Samples were analysed from 16-yr-old trees in a plantation in Illinois representing 16 provenances of Pinus strobus. In cortical oleoresin, content of alpha -pinene, beta -pinene, and camphene ('raw' data)/myrcene ('transformed' data) varied among seed sources; foliar monoterpenes did not vary among seed sources. No geographic pattern was observed for any monoterpene.
