The bark and ambrosia beetles of North and Central America (Coleoptera: Scolytidae), a taxonomic monograph.
The author presents a comprehensive review of the Scolytidae of North and Central America, including about 1430 species. In addition to the systematic section, which forms the major part of the review, there are sections on the biology, injuriousness, classification and biogeography of scolytids, and methods used in the study. The systematic section contains parts on the family Scolytidae, the subfamilies Hylesininae and Scolytinae, and the 21 tribes within the subfamilies, and keys to the subfamilies, tribes, genera and species. For each species, data are presented on diagnostic characters, male and female morphology, distribution and biology.
