Prospects for industrial entomology in the Philippines.
In this paper are discussed various aspects of sericulture and apiculture in the Philippines, of which the most interesting appears to be the feasibility of exporting raw silk or silk fabrics instead of silkworm cocoons, and of culturing indigenous silk moths that do not feed on mulberry, such as Attacus atlas (L.), Samia cynthia ricini (Boisd.) (Philosamia ricini) (feeding on castor and Cananga odorata), Antheraea semperi Hdr. (feeding on oak) and Cricula trifenestrata (Helf.), instead of Bombyx mori (L.) which is almost exclusive to Morus spp.
