Chemical control of African boxthorn, Lycium ferocissimum.
In a herbicide evaluation for the control of Lycium ferocissimum at Millmerran, an aqueous solution of glyphosate at a concn. of 0.3% sprayed overall at high vols. and a 2% solution of 2,4,5-T-ester in diesel oil applied as a basal-bark spray both eradicated the weed. Among the other treatments, an aqueous solution of hexazinone applied to the soil around the stem bases at 0.5 g/plant gave 81% control and a high vol. spray of picloram 0.1% + 2,4-D 0.4% gave 65% control but fosamine 0.84% was ineffective.
