Invasive Species Compendium

Detailed coverage of invasive species threatening livelihoods and the environment worldwide

Abstract

Turfgrass renovation.

Abstract

The authors describe the various ways in which undesirable species such as Agrostis spp., Cynodon dactylon, Festuca arundinacea and Pennisetum clandestinum as well as broad-leaved weeds can be replaced with Kentucky bluegrass and perennial ryegrass. The methods include the use of post-em. herbicides, in particular glyphosate, followed by appropriate cultural practices. Non-chemical renovation through cultivation, reseeding and/or plugging is also described.
