Life-histories of two specimens of aspidogastrids and the phylogeny of the group.
Aspidogaster amurensis, A. indica, A. ijimai, Cotylaspis sinensis, A. conchicola and Lophotaspis orientalis were recovered from fish and Amyda in China. Aspidogaster ijimai and A. indica are reported for the first time in China. For L. orientalis the molluscan host is Corbicula fluminea and the vertebrate host Amyda tuberculata and for Aspidogaster indica the molluscan host is Limnoperna lacustris and the vertebrate hosts are fresh-water fish, Megalobrama terminalis and Squaliobarbus curriculus. The phylogeny and taxonomic relationships of Aspidogastrea to other groups of helminths are discussed. Gametogenesis in A. indica is described.
