The isolation and identification of Trypanosoma theileri in Mexico.

Abstract

Trypanosoma theileri was isolated by culture at 27 deg C for 45 days from one of 100 adult cattle in Hueytamalco, Puebla, Mexico. The parasite could be transferred to other cattle by inoculation of 300 ml blood or of cultures. Infected cattle showed no symptoms. No infection could be produced in rats. This is the first report of T. theileri from Mexico.
