Abstract

Studies on the head capsule of the mature larva of Lymantria obfuscata Walker (Lymantriidae-Lepidoptera).

Abstract

Lymantria obfuscata Wlk., which is a serious pest of forest and ornamental trees in hilly regions, is one of the 3 species of the genus known in Nepal. In view of the importance of the mouthparts in damaging the trees, the head capsule of the mature larva is studied, described and illustrated in detail from individuals collected from trees growing at an altitude of 5000 ft above sea level.
