Abstract

Dasheen mosaic virus isolated from konjac plants (Amorphophallus konjac C. Koch) affected by mosaic disease.

Abstract

The virus was transmissible to Philodendron selloum mechanically and, stylet-borne, by Aphis gossypii. Infected plants contained filamentous virus particles c. 13 X 750 nm, mostly arranged along membranes of the tonoplast, and cytoplasmic inclusions, mostly circular, sometimes pinwheel. Identification of the virus, consistently associated with A. konjac plants with mosaic symptoms, was based on transmissibility and symptoms on P. selloum.
