Abstract

Introduction and adaptation of Apanteles flavipes Cam. (Hym.: Braconidae), parasite of Diatraea spp., in the sugarcane areas of the state of Pernambuco, Paraiba and Rio Grande do Norte - Brazil.

Abstract

From investigations on the biological control of Diatraea spp. on sugar-cane in north-eastern Brazil since 1975, the natural enemies Paratheresia claripalpis (Wulp), Metagonistylum minense Tns., Ipobracon grenadensis Ashm. and Agathis sacchari (Myers) are reported. About 277 000 adults of the introduced braconid parasite Apanteles flavipes (Cam.) were released in 1975-77; 6384 were recovered in the same period, some of them about 5 km from the liberation areas.
