Leaf spot on Capsicum and tomato caused by Pseudomonas solanacearum.
P. solanacearum is newly reported causing a leaf spot of C. annuum cv. Northern Belle. The leaf spot was reproduced in C. and tomato seedlings by spray inoculation with the bacterium at concs. of c. 102 -107 cells/ml; subsequently a wilt of tomato was caused at c. 105-107 cells/ml. A wilt occurred on both hosts following stem inoculation. A P. solanacearum isolate from bacterial wilt of tomato also produced a leaf spot and wilt on both hosts.
