Invasive Species Compendium

Detailed coverage of invasive species threatening livelihoods and the environment worldwide

Abstract

Tachinid flies (Diptera: Tachinidae) occurring in the chestnut orchards in Ishikawa Prefecture. (Insect fauna of chestnut orchards in Ishikawa Prefecture VI).

Abstract

During investigations on the insect fauna of chestnut orchards in Japan, several species of tachinid parasites were reared from pest species attacking the trees, or were found in the orchards. An annotated list is presented of 13 such species, with collection data and, where known, the host species. Many of the host records are new, including Hyleorus elatus (Mg.) (Steiniomyia elata) reared from Euproctis similis (Fuessly); Exorista sorbillans (Wied.) reared from larvae of Lagoptera juno (Dalm.) (Dermaleipa juno); Chaetexorista ateripalpis Shima reared from Monema flavescens Wlk. (Cnidocampa flavescens); Carcelia excavata (Zett.) reared from Lymantria mathura aurora Btlr. and Dasychira lunulata Btlr.; and Eumea westermanni (Zett.) reared from Choristoneura longicellana (Wlsm.) (Archips longicellana).
