New records of aphids from Kulu and Lahaul valleys (Himachal Pradesh).

Abstract

A list is given of 17 species of aphid previously unrecorded from the Kulu and Lahaul Valleys of Himachal Pradesh, India, that were collected in 1970-72. These are an undescribed species of Nasonovia on Clerodendron infortunatum, Brevicoryne barbareae Nevsk. on Nasturtium sp. and Barbarea vulgaris, Cavariella aquatica (Gill. & Bragg) on Salix sp., Capitophorus sp. on Hippophae salicifolia, Acyrthosiphon moltshanovi Mordv. on Selinum tenuifolium, a species referred to by the authors as A. longicaudatum sp.n. [but which is presumably Metopolophium longicaudatum (David & Hameed)] on wheat, A. rubi Narzikulov on Saussurea lappa, Catamixis baccariodes, buckwheat, Fagopyrum tataricum and Hieracium vulgatum, Chaetosiphon gracilicorne David, Rajasingh & Narayanan on Rosa moschata, Sitobion miscanthi (Tak.) (Macrosiphum miscanthi) on barley and rye, Toxoptera aurantii (Boy.) on jasmine, Hyadaphis coriandri (Das) on coriander, Aphis gossypii Glov. on Elsholtzia polystachya, Mentha sylvestris, buckwheat, pomegranate and apple, aphids of the group of A. gossypii and A. frangulae Kalt. on Calendula sp., Tricaudatus polygoni (Narzikulov) on Rumex hastatus, Tuberolachnus salignus (Gmel.) on Salix sp., Brachycaudus helichrysi (Kalt.) on Saussurea lappa and Hyalomyzus sp. on Selinum tenuifolium. The food-plant records for the first 7 aphid species are new.
