Rate of development of Platynota idaeusalis at constant temperatures.

Abstract

The relationship between the rate of larval and pupal development of Platynota idaeusalis (Wlk.) and temperature is discussed. A logistic equation was used to model this relationship. No statistical difference was found between male and female developmental rates. The maximum rate of development was estimated to be about 4% per day at about 32.3 deg C, while the highest rate of survival occurred at 26.7 deg C.
