Abstract

Orientation towards integrated control in citrus culture in south-east France.

Abstract

Whiteflies, scale insects and aphids are the principal pests of citrus fruits. The biology of these insects and their natural enemies, including introductions of Cales noacki, Metaphycus helvolus and Leptomastix dactylopii, is described and methods of control, particularly biological, discussed. Treatment with white oil, when timed so as not to cause too much destruction of natural enemies, is usually satisfactory, but synthetic pesticides may sometimes be necessary and a recommended integrated control programme is tabulated.
