Abstract

In a survey of the Thysanoptera found on drug plants in Bulgaria in 1966-68, the species recorded were Aeolothrips intermedius Bagn. on Datura innoxia, Inule helenium, Chrysanthemum (Pyrethrum) cinerariaefolium and Aster junceus, where it was evidently a predator on the eggs and young larvae of phytophagous thrips and on aphids, Taeniothrips atratus (Hal.) on Atropa belladonna, D. innoxia and Centaurea jacea, Thrips tabaci Lind. on Matricaria inodora, T. physapus L. on C. jacea, T. flavus Schr. on C. jacea, Haplothrips angusticornis Priesn. on M. inodora and Aster junceus, H. acanthoscelis (Karny) (new for Bulgaria) on maize and C. jacea, H. reuteri (Karny) on Chrysanthemum cinerariaefolium, A. junceus, Centaurea jacea and I. helenium, H. setiger Priesn. common on Chrysanthemum cinerariaefolium and less so on I. helenium and A. junceus, and Neoheegeria verbasci (Osb.) (new for Bulgaria) on Verbascum thapsus.
