Abstract

Fireblight in France. II. Characters of the strains of Erwinia amylovora (Burril) Winslow et al., 1920, isolated from a Franco-Belgian focus.

Abstract

The comparative study (cultural, biochemical, serological) of 19 isolates of E. amylovora from hawthorn [Crataegus], pear and cotoneaster in the Franco-Belgian focus of infection and 4 from pear and apple from N. America confirmed the similarity of the various strs. irrespective of host or country of origin. Identification of the bacterium was based on serological agglutination tests and inoculations on green pear.
