Abstract

a. In the Plant Path. section (171-178, 1 pl., 4 tab.) K.T. Kheng reports on the lab. screening of 16 new fungicides as leaf protectants and as soil drenches against Phytophthora palmivora on pepper (Piper nigrum). In 2 infected pepper gardens difolatan as a soil drench was the best of the 4 treatments applied.b. Of 6 fungicides screened against Helminthosporium oryzae [Cochliobolus miyabeanus] and Nigrospora [Khuskia] oryzae on hill rice, benomyl and duter gave a significant reduction of spot number. Spores of K. oryzae were not found on leaf samples under benomyl treatment.ac. Phyllosticta zingiberi was identified on ginger, causing numerous circular, oval or elongated leaf spots with white centres, brown margins and yellowish halos which gave a general yellowing appearance to the crop.rd. Among new records Periconiella musae is reported on banana and Alternaria ricini [CMI Map 345] on Ricinus communis.<new para>ADDITIONAL ABSTRACT:<new para>Meloidogyne javanica was recorded on patchouli (Pogostemon cablin) for the first time in Sarawak.
