Abstract

Current status of fire blight in Egypt.

Abstract

Isolations from diseased leaves, blossoms and cankered twigs collected from different localities during 1971-1972 and showing suspected fire blight (Erwinia amylovora) symptoms, failed to give rise to any pathogenic bacteria. Although fire blight of pear was first reported in Egypt in 1964 [CMI Map 2], in the last 6 years pear trees there have been free from the disease.
